JOB OPENING:
SACOT Associate Professional
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
Reports to: LCAS or CCS, and Administrative Supervisor
POSITION PURPOSE:
To provide services within the SA Intensive Outpatient Program (SACOT), which means structured individual and group addiction activities and services that are provided at an outpatient program designed to assist adult and adolescent members to begin recovery and learn skills for recovery maintenance.

To provide clinical services in the SACOT program the AP must meet the requirements specified for AP status for Substance Abuse according to 10A NCAC 27G .0104, under the supervision of a LCAS or a CCS.
​
The program must be under the clinical supervision of a CCS or a LCAS who is on site a minimum of 90% of the hours the service is in operation.
​
The maximum face-to-face staff-to-client ratio is not more than 10 adult members to 1 QP based on an average daily attendance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide Professional Services and treatment within the scope of the AP status.

Supervision will include supervision plans. Supervision plans will be individualized and appropriate for the level of education, skill, and experience of staff. DSIS will maintain documentation of the necessary individualized and appropriate clinical supervision for all staff

Under the supervision of the CCS or the LCAS, the AP may provide or ensure the provision of:
-
Individual counseling and support;
-
Group counseling and support;
-
Family counseling, training or support;
-
Biochemical assays to identify recent drug use (e.g., urine drug screens);
-
Strategies for relapse prevention to include community and social support systems in treatment;
-
Life skills;
-
Crisis contingency planning
-
Disease management; and
-
Treatment support activities that have been adapted or specifically designed for persons with physical disabilities or persons with co-occurring disorders of mental illness and substance abuse/dependence or mental retardation/developmental disability and substance abuse/dependence.

Must provide “first responder” crisis response on a 24/7/365 basis to recipients who are receiving this service, and have the capacity to respond face-to-face within 2 hours, as well as have access to the crisis plans of members.

SACOT includes case management to arrange, link, or integrate multiple services as well as assessment and reassessment of the recipient’s need for services. SACOT services also inform the recipient about benefits, community resources, and services; assist the recipient in accessing benefits and services; arranges for the recipient to receive benefits and services; and monitors the provision of services.

Group counseling is provided each day SACOT services are offered.
TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
Must maintain all trainings as required by State and Federal law and regulations.

Must possess the following trainings as required by 10A NCAC 27G .4400 et seq. which provides that:

Each SACOT shall have at least one direct care staff present in the program who is trained in the following areas:
-
alcohol and other drug withdrawal symptoms; and
-
symptoms of secondary complications due to alcoholism and drug addiction.

Each direct care staff shall receive continuing education that includes the following:
-
understanding of the nature of addiction;
-
the withdrawal syndrome;
-
group therapy;
-
family therapy;
-
relapse prevention; and
-
other treatment methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Employees must possess the education, training, and experience to work with the population served in the capacity and at the level of intervention for which hired.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
“Associate Professional (AP)” within the mental health, developmental disabilities and substance abuse services (mh/dd/sas) system of care means an individual who is a:
A) graduate of a college or university with a Masters degree in a human service field with less than one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with less than one year of full-time, post-graduate degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan shall be developed and supervision shall be provided by a qualified professional with the population served until the individual meets one year of experience; or
B) graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a human service field with less than two years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated SA experience with the population served or a substance abuse professional with less than two years of full-time post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan shall be developed and reviewed annually. Supervision shall be provided by a qualified professional with the population served until the individual meets two years
of experience; or
C) graduate of a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a field other than human services with less than four years of full-time, post-bachelor’s degree accumulated SA experience with the population served, or a substance abuse professional with less than four years of full-time post-bachelor’s degree accumulated supervised experience in alcoholism and drug abuse counseling. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan shall be developed and reviewed annually. Supervision shall be provided by a qualified professional with the population served until the individual meets four years of experience; or
D) registered nurse who is licensed to practice in the State of North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing with less than four years of full-time accumulated experience in SA with the population served. Upon hiring, an individualized supervision plan shall be developed and reviewed annually.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Must maintain certifications in NCI, and Community First Aid/CPR and other certifications as required.
